DKOU 2026, the Deutscher Kongress für Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie, runs from 20 to 23 October 2026 at CityCube Berlin. It is held jointly with the DGOOC, DGU and BVOU annual meetings, organised by DGOU through Intercongress GmbH. DKOU calls itself the largest congress in its field in Europe. 2026 brings a new motto, "Neue Wege gehen" (Exploring New Paths), plus new interactive formats: "Albtrauma" case discussions for junior doctors, speed mentoring, and interactive case discussions for residents. Guest nations are the Netherlands and Poland. The academy programme grows to 22 academies, and childcare for ages 0 to 12 now runs all four days at 10 € per day. See the full programme.
The programme spans four days across 13 halls, plus two streams available on demand or live for a year. Categories include Highlights, Hot Topics, Guest Nations sessions, and five named theme days: Tag der Studierenden, Tag der Technischen Orthopädie, Tag der Pflege, Tag der Physiotherapie and Patiententag. DKOU has not published which day each theme day falls on, so check the programme page. 15 institutions award continuing-education credit.
Two evening events are confirmed: the Rookie-Night, Wednesday 21 October from 22:00 at Club WEEKEND, free with a valid ticket; and the KaDeWe Congress Party, Thursday 22 October, 20:30 to midnight, 165 € with separate registration (see the events page). The standard rate, 1 to 19 October, costs 300 € (members) or 350 € (non-members); on-site, from 20 October, it is 350 € / 400 €. Day tickets: standard 150 € / 175 €, on-site 175 € / 200 €.
Reduced rates cut 50 € for trainees, unemployed participants, medical assistants, nurses, physiotherapists and therapists. Admission is free for Ukrainian participants, students, faculty, VIPs, new DGOU or BVOU rookie members, and accredited press. The fee covers all four days, livestream and on-demand access, and certification. An optional 50 € protection add-on allows cancelling through 19 October, refunding the difference minus the fee.
Habyt Berlin Waterfront states BER airport at about 40 minutes by train or bus, depending on connections. DKOU opens Tuesday 20 October, so flying in Monday evening leaves you settled before the first day, instead of arriving straight into registration. DKOU's own travel page recommends public transport or taxi over driving, since on-site parking is limited.

Walk 4 minutes to S Rummelsburg, then take the S3 direct, no change, to S Messe Süd, about 40 minutes door to door. Some departures change at Warschauer Straße to the S9, also about 40 minutes. From 5 October 2026, Ringbahn bridge works change road routing around the fairground; Gates 9 and P14 stay accessible. Recheck your connection with BVG, Berlin's transport operator, close to 20 October.
