You can use the official Christmas in Madrid overview to follow the city programme.

The Plaza Mayor Christmas market opens in late November and closes on 31 December 2026. Entry is free, and its 104 stalls sell nativity figures, musical instruments, toys and novelty items. Is there a Christmas market in Vallecas?

No source confirms a Christmas market, organised lights display or seasonal event inside Vallecas, Ensanche de Vallecas or at CC La Gavia for the 2026/27 season.

Confirmed options in central Madrid include the 39th Feria Mercado de Artesanía de la Comunidad de Madrid on Paseo de Recoletos. This Christmas craft market runs from 1 to 30 December 2026 and brings together more than 150 artisans working with jewellery, ceramics, textiles and other crafts.

Two other recurring attractions may be part of your plans once their seasonal details are confirmed. La Navideña at Plaza de España usually returns with an ice rink and small Christmas market, although its 2026/27 dates have yet to be announced. The Real Casa de Correos nativity scene is also displayed each December, with exact dates for this season still unpublished.

Truliving Vallecas by Habyt is in Ensanche de Vallecas, within Villa de Vallecas. Valdecarros metro station is about a 10 to 12-minute walk from the property. From there, Line 1 reaches Atocha in 14 stops or Sol in 18 stops, with no change of train.

What is on the programme through to Epiphany?

New Year’s Eve at Puerta del Sol

Madrid welcomes the new year at Puerta del Sol, where the main celebration takes place at midnight on 31 December. The square opens to the public from 21:30, and entry is free with no ticket required. A rehearsal takes place at the same time on 30 December.

The tradition is to eat twelve lucky grapes during the twelve chimes of the Real Casa de Correos clock. The official New Year’s Eve event page covers the public celebration. Metro services commonly use modified timetables on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, so check the published transport information closer to your visit.

The San Silvestre Vallecana

The San Silvestre Vallecana, Madrid’s best-known New Year’s Eve road race, is held on 31 December 2026. The popular wave starts from Avenida de Concha Espina at 16:55, while the elite race begins at 19:55. Both finish at the Estadio de Vallecas on Avenida de la Albufera.

The finish is in Puente de Vallecas, not in Ensanche de Vallecas where the hotel stands. These are different parts of the wider Vallecas district. The stadium is next to Portazgo metro station, which is on Line 1 and sits 9 stops from Valdecarros, with no change required.

Three Kings and the final days of Christmas

The Three Kings parade always takes place on the evening of 5 January, before Epiphany. The route and programme for 5 January 2027 had not been published as of 5 November 2026. Last year’s parade began at 18:00 on Paseo de la Castellana, reached Plaza de Cibeles for speeches at around 21:00 and ended with fireworks. That schedule is a reference to the previous edition rather than the confirmed 2027 plan.

Madrid has also operated a dedicated Christmas-lights night bus called Naviluz or Navibus in previous seasons. It is an annual fixture, but the dates, route, times and price for 2026/27 remain unconfirmed.
