The official Berlin Christmas market season starts on Monday, 23 November 2026, immediately after Totensonntag on 22 November. The city records more than 100 Christmas markets each year, although their individual dates vary considerably.
Several events begin earlier. Winterwelt at Potsdamer Platz is expected to open around the end of October, with its winter slide listed from 31 October, while Lichtenberger Winterzeit runs from 31 October to 27 December. The Historischer Weihnachtsmarkt at the RAW-Gelände opens on 12 November, Christmas Garden Berlin on 18 November and Weihnachten im Tierpark on 20 November.
These early openings make it possible to plan a seasonal trip before the official citywide start. Check event calendars again before travelling, especially for Winterwelt, whose closing date remains approximate.
No official or organiser source lists a Christmas market in Rummelsburg, Victoriastadt or at Ostkreuz for 2026.
The closest confirmed market in this guide is the Historischer Weihnachtsmarkt at Revaler Straße 99, about 22 minutes or 1.58 km from the hotel on foot. It runs from 12 November to 22 December, with a one-day closure on 22 November (Totensonntag). Admission ranges from free on Mondays to €4 at weekends, with craftspeople, performers, hand-operated carousels and medieval-themed activities.
Weihnachten im Tierpark is a seasonal light trail at Tierpark Berlin, about 25 minutes from the hotel. It runs from 20 November 2026 to 9 January 2027 on selected dates, opening from 16:40. The two-kilometre route includes around 30 light sculptures and passes Friedrichsfelde Palace.
The Christmas market at the Karlshorst trotting racecourse takes place only on 28 and 29 November, with free entry and regional vendors. The journey from the hotel takes about 23 minutes.
Lichtenberger Winterzeit offers a large Ferris wheel and more than 14 fairground rides from 31 October to 27 December, with closures on 22 November and 24 December. No grounds admission fee is stated, while rides are priced separately. Take tram M6 to Arendsweg or buses 256 and N56 to Liebenwalder Str./Landsberger Allee, as no verified door-to-door travel time is available.
Many of the best Christmas markets in Berlin add palace settings, historic squares and specialist markets to the eastern options. Travel times below are door to door from Habyt Berlin Waterfront.
Christmas Garden Berlin is at the Botanical Garden in Dahlem. It is a separate event from Weihnachten im Tierpark, which takes place at Tierpark Berlin in Friedrichsfelde. Plan Christmas Garden as a deliberate longer outing because the journey from the hotel takes about 62 minutes.
Check in at Habyt Berlin Waterfront from 15:00, then walk about 22 minutes to the RAW-Gelände. The Historischer Weihnachtsmarkt stays open until 23:00 on Fridays, giving you time to explore its craft stalls, performances and medieval activities.
Use your studio kitchenette or one of the shared kitchens for an unhurried start. Choose between Köpenick’s market, which is open from 12:00 to 22:00 and takes about 35 minutes to reach, or Domäne Dahlem, which is open from 11:00 to 19:00 and takes about 57 minutes.
In the evening, head to Berliner Weihnachtszeit at the Rotes Rathaus, about 24 minutes from the hotel. Entry is free, while the ice rink costs €5 and skate hire costs €3.
Check-out is by 11:00, although late checkout can be requested from reception and depends on availability. The front desk is staffed 24/7 if you need help arranging it. Finish with Weihnachten im Tierpark, which opens at 16:40 on Sundays and operates until 21:00.
