About the citySan Francisco, a progressive and welcoming city

As one of America’s most open and progressive cities, San Francisco has plenty to be proud of. SF has long been a welcoming place, and you’ll feel this legacy when exploring neighborhoods like the old hippie headquarters of Haight Ashbury or the historically LGBTQ-friendly Castro District. The most iconic San Francisco monuments are the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz (as long as you can see them from your coliving space and the city’s infamous fog).

For tenants, San Fran is a relatively walkable city, but if you grow tired of the never-ending hills while staying in a coliving space, as a resident, you have several public transit options. For shorter trips, there are city buses and atmospheric trolley cars to shuttle you around. For transportation throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, you can take the ferry or BART—the six-line metro system that connects SF with Oakland, San Jose, and the airport. Taxis and ride-sharing services fill in any gaps in public transit, so you can thrive while staying in one of the coliving spaces in San Francisco with or without a car.
Employees in San Francisco (including part-time and temporary employees) receive $18.07, the current minimum wage in San Francisco.
It may be touristy, but an afternoon down at Fisherman’s Wharf offers an opportunity to sample fresh seafood and local history (not to mention a hearty helping of people-watching). Golden Gate Park is another well-known spot that’s worth your while, with a Japanese garden, a museum, an aquarium, and the gorgeous Conservatory of Flowers. After the sun goes down, while you’re staying in one of the common spaces in the area, check out Valencia Street for a night on the town, or hit the Orpheum to see touring Broadway shows.
As a student moving to San Francisco, there are a few documents you may need, including proof of identity, proof of enrollment, and proof of income or financial support. If applicable, you may also need to provide an employment contract and visa or residence permit.
